IKEA 2018 Fall Finds Part Two
/Best of IKEA: Fall 2018 (Part Two)
I had a feeling I wouldn’t be able to squeeze all of the IKEA fall 2018 gems into one post. At this rate, I may have another one or two (or three!) up my sleeves so you’ll have to bear with me. It’s hard to believe that IKEA has so much great stuff going on right now but they’re totally knocking it out of the park this fall with some awesome furniture and lighting.
And speaking of knocking it out of the park, I’ve heard rave reviews about the food at IKEA. Despite my many trips over the years, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten more than a hot dog there (insert googly-eyed emoji here). Can anyone vouch for the rest of the food offerings? Any faves?
Without further ado, continue reading for part two of non-food IKEA fall faves.
This MALSJO glass-door cabinet is on the pricey end of the IKEA spectrum but a great classic piece for showing off pretty entertaining dishes
My tiny sidekick knew just what to do in here.. but how cute is this HALVED flat weave rug for a playroom or anywhere you’re looking to add color?
If you’ve recently redone a kitchen (or even considered it), chances are you’ve priced out apron front sinks. What’s not to love? They’re nice looking, easy to clean, and have plenty of room to stack all the dishes you’re too lazy to wash. But did you find any under $200?!? I bet you overlooked HAVSEN, a double bowl apron front sink with a 25 year warranty (currently on sale for $179!) They have a single bowl version as well
Looking for a great step stool that supports kids and adults but doesn’t look embarrassing? Meet BEKVAM, a great buy and made from solid wood. Also, somewhat entertainingly, IKEA cautions against painting it with “regular” paint but instead recommends a special, grippy IKEA paint so you don’t slip off your stool and eat it.
At $399, this HEMNES cabinet is expensive by IKEA standards but another classic storage piece. Bookshelves with drawers are hard to come by but this also works as a china cabinet on top with a place to hide flatware or linens on bottom. (Or paper plates and Solo cups and leftover birthday streamers. You know, whatever you have on hand).
Mirrors never cease to confuse me. WHY are they so expensive?!? Why are good ones so hard to find? IKEA has a variety of mirrors ranging from snoozefest to oddball to completely impractical but buried in this hodgepodge is the STOCKHOLM. Walnut, 31” and bordering on MCM (but not so much so that it won’t mesh with another style), the STOCKHOLM gives you a round, natural wood mirror at a great price ($129).
The HEKTAR is a great metal pendant that works with a variety of design styles and comes in white and black. I like the largest size and would put a grouping of three over an island. Shades of Light carries a teensy ceramic version of the HEKTAR but it really reminds me of a cross between this YHL-designed pendant and sized like this $998 one from Serena & Lily. And did I mention it’s only $60?
Am I secretly a college student that I’m swooning this hard over IKEA? Does this motivate you to brave the maze? (Doooooo it!! So worth it). Looking like this is part two of ……?
And I meant it about working up an appetite while shopping at IKEA.. any foods to try/avoid?
